PM Modi launches Developed India Youth Workshop:- The “Developed India@2047: voice of youth” scheme was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 11 December.

  • This scheme aims to transform India into an advanced nation one hundred years after the achievement of Indian sovereignty.
  • Across the country, workshops will take place and enable youth participation in realizing this objective.
  • India needs to attain four measures if it is to be considered among the developed countries.
  • Such indicators as Gross National Income (GNI), Per capita income, Gross domestic production, and HDI.
  • The UN had named 126 states of the world as developing until 2020.
  • The UN list of developed countries included 36 such countries until 2020.

Khelo India Para Games 2023′ in Delhi:- On the 11th of December, Anurag Thakur, the Union Sports Minister launched ‘Khelo India para games’ at the KD Jadhav Indoor Hall in the national capital of Delhi. (Current Affairs )

  • These games have 1450 para-athletes drawn from 32 states, union territories, and service sports boards.
  • Khelo India Para Games 2023 is scheduled between 10th Dec – 17th Dec, at three locations in Delhi.
  • They are being staged at IG Stadium, Tughlakabad shooting range, and JLN Stadium respectively.
  • Seven sports competitions will be held under ‘Khelo India Para Games 2023’
  • These include para athletics, para shooting, para archery, para football, para badminton, para table tennis, and para weightlifting.
  • They have held the Khelo India Games on eleven occasions since 2018.
  • They include five Khelo India Youth Games, three Khelo India University Games, and three Khelo India Winter Games.

National

Government bans onion:- On 8th December, the Federal Government directed that exportation of the onions was not allowed until 31st March 2024. This is because of the high demand and higher prices for onion.

  • The government has requested NCCFI and NAFED to buy 60,000 tons of onion this season.
  • The above figure translates into the purchase of 5.10 lakh tonnes of onion.
  • A year later, at a conference in Nairobi, Kenya, the United Nations declared October 29, 2023, as World Food Day.
  • The Central Government introduced a 40% export duty on onions in August 2023 and will continue till the end of December 2023.
  • The government was not levying export duties on the Bengaluru Rose variety in that period.
  • The name of this onion was recognized as geographic indication (GI) by the Indian government just two years ago, i.e., in 2015.
