 Railway Minister Piyush Goyal gave the information about the railway arch bridge being built on the Chenab river in Jammu. The length of this iconic railway arch bridge is 1315 and the height is 359 meters above the river bed.


World Tallest Railway Arch Bridge Built in Jammu and Kashmir

The construction of the world’s highest railway bridge “Arch” in Jammu and Kashmir, whose height is 359 meters from the bottom of the Chenab river, has been completed. The information was given by Railway Minister Piyush Goyal by tweeting.

The 1.3 km long bridge is intended to boost connectivity with the Kashmir Valley and has been constructed at a cost of Rs 1,486 crore as part of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Railway Link (USBRL) project.

The construction of the Chenab bridge was approved as a national project in 2002. Indian Railways is constructing the iconic Arch Bridge over the Chenab River as part of the USBRL project to connect the Kashmir Valley with the rest of the country.
