State Bank of India (SBI) has been authorized to sell and redeem the 16th phase of electoral bonds through 29 authorized branches from April 1, 2021, to April 10, 2021.
Recently, the central government has approved the issuance of the 16th instalment of electoral bonds on 30 March 2021 between assembly elections in four states and one union territory. It will open for sale between April 1 and April 10.
Electoral bonds have been arranged in an effort to bring transparency in donations to political parties. Under this, political parties have been given the option of electoral bonds instead of cash donations, which the opposition parties are expressing concern about the lack of transparency in the donations.
The Finance Ministry said in a statement that the Election Commission approved the electoral bond on 17 March 2021 with certain conditions from the perspective of the code of conduct. This includes the condition that no political activist or official will say anything in this context to public speech or the press or to the people of his constituency.
According to the Ministry of Finance, the State Bank of India (SBI) has been authorized to sell and redeem the 16th phase of electoral bonds from 01 April 2021 to 10 April 2021 through 29 authorized branches.
SBI is the only bank authorized to issue bonds. The electoral bond remains valid within 15 days of issuance, after which, if the bond is deposited, it will not be paid to the political party concerned.
- In the first phase, the sale of electoral bonds was held from 1 to 10 March 2018.
- The sale of the 15th phase of Election Bonds took place from 01 January to 10 January 2021.
- According to the provision of the scheme, an individual can buy an electoral bond, which is a citizen of India or an entity formed here.
- Registered parties who have secured at least one percent of the vote in the last Lok Sabha or Vidhan Sabha elections are entitled to receive electoral bonds.

(राजनीतक दलों को दिये जाने वाले चंदे में पारदर्शिता लाने के प्रयास के तहत चुनावी बॉन्ड की व्यवस्था की गयी है| इसके तहत राजनीतिक दलों को नकद चंदे के बजाए चुनावी बॉन्ड का विकल्प रखा गया है जिसका विपक्षी दल चंदे में कथित पारदर्शिता की कमी को लेकर चिंता जता रहे हैं|)
(वित्त मंत्रालय ने एक बयान में कहा कि निर्वाचन आयोग ने 17 मार्च 2021 को आचार संहिता के दृष्टकोण से कुछ शर्तों के साथ चुनावी बॉन्ड को मंजूरी दी है | इसमें यह शर्त शामिल है कि कोई भी राजनीतिक कार्यकर्ता या पदाधिकारी सार्वजनिक भाषण या प्रेस अथवा अपने चुनाव क्षेत्र के लोगों से इस संदर्भ में कुछ नहीं कहेंगे|)

(एसबीआई एक मात्र बैंक है जिसे बॉन्ड जारी करने के लिये अधिकृत किया गया है | चुनावी बॉन्ड जारी करने के 15 दिनों के भीतर वैध रहता है उसके बाद यदि बॉन्ड जमा किया जाता है, तो उसे संबंधित राजनीतिक दल को भुगतान नहीं होगा|)
- पहले चरण में चुनावी बॉन्ड की बिक्री एक से 10 मार्च 2018 को हुई थी|
- चुनाव बॉन्ड की 15वें चरण की बिक्री 01 जनवरी से 10 जनवरी 2021 के बीच हुई|
- योजना के प्रावधान के अनुसार चुनावी बॉन्ड कोई व्यक्ति खरीद सकता है जो भारत का नागरिक या यहां गठित इकाई है|
- पंजीकृत दल जिन्होंने पिछले लोकसभा या विधानसभा चुनाव में कम-से-कम एक फीसदी वोट हासिल किया है, वे चुनावी बॉन्ड प्राप्त करने के हकदार होते है |
