In 2017, the Central Government had developed the National Strategic Plan (NSP) for the eradication of Tuberculosis with a goal of ending it by 2025.
Recently, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan appealed to the countrymen to make India TB free. It is said that the Union Territory of Lakshadweep and Budgam of Jammu and Kashmir are the first places declared TB-free in the country.
Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan appealed to the citizens to contribute to transforming India’s resolve to end tuberculosis (TB) by the year 2025 into a mass movement.
After inaugurating the program organized on World Tuberculosis Day at Dr Ambedkar International Center, Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said that there were some hurdles towards tackling TB in 2020, but India’s TB program despite the challenge of Kovid-19 global epidemic Under this, 18.04 lakh TB cases have been registered.
The Health Minister said that economical (called TruNat) machines are being used to test Covid-19 and TB all over the country. He said that 30 per cent of the total TB cases in the world occur in India.

(स्वास्थ्य मंत्री ने कहा कि देशभर में कोविड-19 और टीबी की जांच के लिए किफायती (ट्रूनैट नामक) मशीनों का इस्तेमाल किया जा रहा है| उन्होंने बताया कि दुनियाभर के कुल टीबी मामलों के 30 प्रतिशत मामले भारत में आते हैं|)
