Great musician Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan dies
Recently, famous classical singer and musician Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan died on 17 January 2021 at the age of 89. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan on behalf of the Government of India.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the music world have mourned the death of Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan. Expressing grief over Khan’s death, the Prime Minister said that the cultural world had suffered a great loss due to his death.
Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan, an Indian classical musician and Padma Vibhushan was cremated in Mumbai with full state honours. His funeral was attended by many stalwarts of the music world, including the police, Ustad was the eldest of his four brothers and three sisters.
Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan received the Padma Shri in 1991, the Padma Bhushan in the year 2006 and the Padma Bhushan in the year 2018. He was also awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for his remarkable contribution in the field of music.
Ustad was born on 03 March 1931 in Bandayu, Uttar Pradesh, he was also called as ‘Junior Tansen’ in the field of music. He achieved music training from his father, Ustad Waris Hussain Khan, and was a mentor of legendary veteran singer Sonu Nigam.
Ghulam Mustafa Khan, who has established his own worldwide identity in the field of Hindustani classical singing, has lent his voice in films like ‘Umrao Jaan’, ‘Arrival’, ‘Basti’, ‘Shriman Aashiq’.

(उस्ताद गुलाम मुस्तफा खान को साल 1991 में पद्मश्री, साल 2006 में पद्म भूषण और साल 2018 में पद्म भूषण पुरस्कार मिला | संगीत के क्षेत्र में उल्लेखनीय योगदान के लिए उन्हें संगीत नाटक अकादमी अवॉर्ड से भी सम्मानित किया गया था |)
(उस्ताद का जन्म 03 मार्च 1931 को उत्तर प्रदेश के बंदायू में हुआ था, इनको संगीत के क्षेत्र में ‘जूनियर तानसेन‘ के नाम से भी बुलाया जाता था | उन्होंने अपने पिता उस्ताद वारिस हुसैन खान से संगीत की तालीम हासिल की ओर वे महान दिग्गज सिंगर सोनू निगम के गुरु थे |)
(हिंदुस्तानी शास्त्रीय गायन के क्षेत्र में दुनिया भर में अपनी एक अलग पहचान बनाने वाले गुलाम मुस्तफा खान ने ‘उमराव जान’, ‘आगमन’, ‘बस्ती’, ‘श्रीमान आशिक’ जैसी फिल्मों में अपनी आवाज दी है |)
