Sergio Perez won the Sakhiar Grand Prix 2020 race
Racing Point’s Sergio Perez won the Sakhir Grand Prix in his penultimate race for the team and without a drive for next season.
Perez became the first Mexican victor in F1 since Pedro Rodriguez in 1970, ending a series of races dominated by Mercedes for whom Valtteri Bottas finished eighth and Russell ninth. |
Sergio Perez (Mexico-racing point-BWT Mercedes) recently won the 2020 Sakir Grand Prix race held at the Bahrain International Circuit. Estebon Ocon (Renault-France) finished second in this race, while Lance Stroke (Racing Point-BWT Mercedes-Canada) took third place.
The race was the first edition of the sixteenth race of the Sakheer Grand Prix and the 2020 Formula One World Championship. This is Perez’s first Formula One victory.
Along with this, he also became the first Mexican Formula One driver to win the race after Pedro Rodriguez winning the 1970 Belgian Grand Prix.
