New Zealand Declares Climate Emergency
The government of New Zealand declared a climate emergency on Wednesday, a symbolic step recognizing the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) predictions of substantial global warming if emissions do not fall.

Recently, New Zealand has declared its public sector to be carbon neutral by 2025, along with declaring a “climate emergency”. Following this announcement, New Zealand has now become the 33rd country to declare a climate emergency. Prominent countries include Japan, Canada, France and Britain.

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern told the Legislators that “by declaring a climate emergency we are taking cognizance of the burden that is going to be on the generations to come, as well as for the country in which the coming generations are about to take birth and It is about the debt that will fall on them if we do not take a decision on this issue right now ”.
