The UK has become the first country in the world to approve the Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for widespread use. The Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency said it was safe to be rolled out. Studies found the vaccine has a 95% efficacy rate. The health secretary Matt Hancock said: “The NHS stands ready to start vaccinating early next week.”
