Recently Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan has announced the renaming of Gwalior-Chambal Expressway to Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Chambal Progressway on the second death anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
(हाल ही में मध्य प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री शिवराज सिंह चौहान ने पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री अटल बिहारी वाजपेयी की दूसरी पुण्यतिथि पर ग्वालियर-चंबल एक्सप्रेस-वे का नाम बदलकर श्री अटल बिहारी वाजपेयी चंबल प्रोग्रेसवे करने की घोषणा की है।)
Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the first BJP member to become the Prime Minister of India. As Prime Minister, he first served from 1996 to 1998 and then from 1999 to 2004 for a period of five years. It was during his tenure that a nuclear test was conducted in Pokhran, Rajasthan in 1998. In honor of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, December 25 is celebrated every year as Good Governance Day.
About Gwalior-Chambal Expressway:
The Gwalior Chambal Expressway is a 6-lane expressway that connects Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan to the ravines of the Chambal region. The expressway will go from Shivpuri, Bhind, Morena via Kota (Rajasthan) along the Chambal River.
