Home Ministry restructures new committee for welfare of freedom fighters
A new committee has again been formed by the Ministry of Home Affairs for the welfare of freedom fighters. The committee will be chaired by Minister of State for Home Affairs Kishan Reddy and 9 other “eminent freedom fighters”.
The ministry will facilitate a separate division to serve the surviving freedom fighters and their families. It distributes pensions to around 30,000 freedom fighters and their families. Apart from Reddy, the panel also includes former Gujarat Congress MLA Dinakar Bhai Desai, who participated in the Quit India Movement of 1942.
