Recently, on the occasion of International Day of Forests celebrated in Tikli village of Haryana, Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Bhupendra Yadav has launched the Aravali Green Wall Project in the four states of Aravalli mountain range, the main objective of which is to protect the Aravalli hill range. The surrounding 5-kilometer area is to be made green.
What is Aravalli Green Wall Project?
The Aravali Green Wall Project is a Central Government initiative whose main objective is to afforest an area of 5 km around the Aravalli hill range in the states of Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Delhi.
This project is done by the efforts of the Ministry of Environment of the Central Government, which is working to create green routes across the country to tackle land degradation and desertification and give a gift to the environment.
- The project will include the plantation of local species of trees and small plants on marudhar, shrubland, and degraded forest land.
- In addition, the project will also attempt to revive and revitalize groundwater structures, such as wells, lakes, and rivers, as well as focus on agro-forestry and pasture development to improve the livelihoods of local communities.
- The project will have several key works, such as improving the ecological health of the Aravalli range, creating a green barrier to prevent soil degradation, desertification, and dust storms, and fulfilling India’s commitments under international agreements like UNCCD, CBD, and UNFCC. - यह परियोजना केंद्र सरकार के पर्यावरण मंत्रालय के प्रयासों से की गई है, जो भूमि क्षरण और मरुस्थलीकरण से निपटने और पर्यावरण को उपहार देने के लिए देश भर में हरित मार्ग बनाने के लिए काम कर रहा है।
- इस परियोजना के अनुसार मरुधर, झाड़ी भूमि और दूषित वन भूमि पर स्थानीय प्रजातियों के पेड़ और छोटे पौधों का लगाना शामिल होगा।
- इसके अलावा, परियोजना तल जल संरचनाओं, जैसे कुंआ, झील और नदियों को जीवंत करने और पुनर्जीवित का भी प्रयास किया जायेगा, साथ ही स्थानीय समुदायों के जीविकों को सुधारने के लिए कृषि वनोत्पादन और चरागाह विकास पर भी फोकस करेगी।
- इस परियोजना के अंतर्गत कई मुख्य कार्य और होंगे , जैसे अरावली श्रृंखला के पारिस्थितिक स्वास्थ्य को सुधारना, मिट्टी के गिरावट, रेगिस्तानीकरण और धूल तूफानों को रोकने के लिए हरी बाधा बनाना, और यूएनसीसीडी, सीबीडी और यूएनएफसीसी की तरह अंतरराष्ट्रीय समझौतों के तहत भारत के प्रतिबद्धियों में योगदान देना।
