World Day of the Sick: Every year on 11 February, the World Day of the Sick is celebrated to pray for the people suffering from the disease. This time 30th World Sick Day is being celebrated. Which was started by Pope John Paul II in 1992.
The theme of World Day of the Sick:
The theme of World Day of the Sick in the year 2022 is “Be kind because your father is merciful”. On this day, Pope Francis reminds us that “the supreme witness of the Father’s merciful love for the sick is his only son”.

History of World Day of the Sick:
Pope John Paul II was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in early 1991 and the disease was confirmed in 2001. It is believed that in 1992, a year after his diagnosis of the disease, he decided to celebrate the World Day of the Sick. World Sick Day in 2005 had special significance, as the ailing pope later died on 2 April of the same year.
Importance:
People around the world take time on this day to pray for the sick and their caregivers. Various organizations mainly do the work of distributing medicines, food, and essential items to the sick on this day.
