Life introduction:
Shastri, who lived a simple life, was born Munshi Lal Bahadur Shastri on 2 October 1904 in Mughalsarai, Uttar Pradesh. He was the youngest in his house, so he was affectionately called little. His mother’s name was Ram Dulari and his father’s name was Munshi Prasad Srivastava. While Shastri’s wife’s name was Lalita Devi.
Prime Minister’s tenure:
After the death of the first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, he assumed the office of Prime Minister on 09 June 1964. He was the Prime Minister of the country for about 18 months. Under his leadership, India defeated Pakistan in the 1965 war. He died on the night of 11 January 1966 after signing an agreement to end the war with the President of Pakistan Ayub Khan in Tashkent. Which remains a mystery to date.
