World Hindi Day 2022: World Hindi Day is observed annually on 10 January to mark the anniversary of the first World Hindi Conference held in 1975.

Whose purpose is to increase awareness of the Hindi language. World Hindi Day was celebrated for the first time on 10 January 2006, since then World Hindi Day is celebrated every year on 10 January. Competitions related to Hindi are organized in many countries on this occasion.

Hindi is the most spoken language in the world after English, Mandarin and Spanish. According to an estimate, about 700 million people use this language in their daily life by some means or the other.

History and Purpose of World Hindi Day

World Hindi Day is celebrated every year on 10 January to mark the anniversary of the first World Hindi Conference held in 1975. The first World Hindi Conference was inaugurated by the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Various countries like the United States of America, the United Kingdom, Mauritius, Trinidad and Tobago have organized World Hindi Conference since 1975.

World Hindi Day was celebrated for the first time on 10 January 2006 by former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and since then every year 10 January has been celebrated as a special day to promote it as a global language. Apart from World Hindi Day, National Hindi Day is celebrated on 14 September in India.
