TS Trimurti (T. S. Tirumurti) has been appointed as the Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations based in New York. He is a 1985 batch officer of the Indian Foreign Service. Prior to this, he was appointed as Secretary in the Indian Ministry of External Affairs.
Early life
Tirumurti was born on 7 March 1962 in Chennai. He holds a bachelor’s degree in commerce and law. He is married to Gauri Tirumurti and has two children, daughter Bhavani and son Vishwajeet.

Tirumurti served in the Permanent Mission to the United Nations in Geneva and was India’s first representative to the Palestinian Authority in the Gaza Strip. He served as a counsellor at the Washington, DC, embassy; as Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia; and served as High Commissioner to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
