President Ram Nath Kovind’s proposed visit to Kargil on the 22nd anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas has been cancelled due to bad weather. Meanwhile, the President has reached the Baramulla War Memorial to pay tribute to the martyrs on Vijay Diwas.
On the 22nd anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, PM Modi tweeted that, “We remember his sacrifice. We remember their bravery. Today, on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, we pay tribute to all those who laid down their lives in Kargil while protecting the country. His bravery inspires us every day.
There was a war between the armies of India and Pakistan on the Kargil mountains in 1999 and later India recaptured the Kargil hills. This battle started when Pakistani soldiers infiltrated the high hills of Kargil and made their bases there.
