Oxfam said in a report titled ‘The Hunger Virus Multiplex’, the number of people who died of starvation has exceeded the number of people who lost their lives due to Covid-19.
Oxfam, an organization working for poverty alleviation, has said that every single minute 11 people die due to starvation worldwide. In the last year, the number of people facing a famine-like situation in the whole world increased six times
Oxfam said in a report titled ‘The Hunger Virus Multiplex‘, the number of people who died of starvation has exceeded the number of people who lost their lives due to Covid-19. Due to Corona, about seven people die every minute in the world.
Oxfam America President and CEO Abby Maxman said the figures are shocking. But we must not forget that these figures are made of people who are going through unimaginable suffering. Maxman further said the economic effects of Covid-19, merciless conflicts and the worsening climate crisis have pushed more than 5,20,000 people to the brink of starvation.
The countries that have been placed in the list of most affected by starvation in this report include Afghanistan, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Syria and Yemen. There are situations of conflict in all these countries.

(ऑक्सफैम अमेरिका के अध्यक्ष व सीईओ एब्बी मैक्समैन ने कहा, आंकड़े हैरान करने वाले हैं| लेकिन हमें यह नहीं भूलना चाहिए कि ये आंकड़े उन लोगों से बने हैं जो अकल्पनीय पीड़ा से गुजर रहे हैं| मैक्समैन ने आगे कहा, कोविड-19 के आर्थिक दुष्प्रभाव, बेरहम संघर्षों और विकट होते जलवायु संकट ने 5,20,000 से अधिक लोगों को भुखमरी की कगार पर पहुंचा दिया है|)
(इस रिपोर्ट में जिन देशों को भुखमरी से सर्वाधिक प्रभावितों की सूची में रखा है उनमें अफगानिस्तान, इथियोपिया, दक्षिण सूडान, सीरिया और यमन शामिल हैं| इन सभी देशों में संघर्ष के हालात हैं|)
