ADB has projected the GDP growth rate for the fiscal year 2022 (2022-23) to be 7.5 percent from the earlier 7 per cent.
Recently, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in its Asian Development Outlook (ADO) supplement for July has reduced India’s economic growth forecast for the financial year 2021-22 (FY22) to 10 per cent from the earlier estimated 11%.
In the Asian growth outlook, the multilateral funding agency said that India’s GDP growth rate in the last quarter of the financial year ended March 2021 was 1.6 percent, due to which the contraction for the whole fiscal year would be 7.3 percent against the forecast of eight percent.
The multilateral funding agency has lowered its GDP growth forecast due to the adverse impact of the coronavirus pandemic. In addition, ADB has projected the GDP growth rate for the fiscal year 2022 (2022-23) to be 7.5 percent from the earlier 7 percent.
