The Athletes Integrity Unit (AIU) of the World Athletics has imposed a four-year ban on sprinter Gomathi Marimuthu, who won the gold medal in the women's 800 m event at the 2019 Asian Athletics Championships.
Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) has banned Gomti Marimuthu for 4 years after a positive test of banned substances. The athlete violated ADR Articles 2.1 and 2.2, in which he used a banned substance and found a metabolite of that prohibited substance in his urin sample. This restriction starts from 17 May 2019 till 16 May 2023.
All the results of the Gomti competition have been declared between 18 March and 17 May 2019. The medals, titles, ranking points and awards and appearance money of this Tamil Nadu athlete are to be forfeited completely. She won the gold medal at the 2019 Asian Championships with a time of minutes and 2.70 seconds, which was held at 2 Doha, Qatar, when the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) of Gomti’s B sample came positive.
