The Indian hockey team has won a medal in the Olympics after 41 years. India defeated Germany 5-4 in the bronze medal match at the Tokyo Olympics. Before this, the last time Team India won the Olympic medal in hockey was in 1980.
Timur Cruz scored the first goal for Germany in the second minute of the match. After this, the Indian team made a comeback in the 17th minute when Simranjit Singh showed a strong game and managed to score the goal by hitting the German goalkeeper. After this, Niklas Wellen scored his first and second goal for the team in the 24th minute for Germany to take Germany 2-1 ahead. Germany then scored another goal within a minute and made their lead 3-1.
In the 27th minute of the match, India got a penalty corner and Hardik Singh converted it into a goal and reduced Germany’s lead. After this, India showed a more aggressive game and scored the third goal of the match. Harmanpreet scored this brilliant goal in the 29th minute before the end of the second quarter.
India got off to a fine start in the third quarter as India got a penalty stroke and Rupinder hit the ball straight into the goalpost to give India a crucial and strong 4-3 lead. After this, Simranjit Singh scored a brilliant goal on Sumit’s pass in the 34th minute and took India 5-3 ahead to bring India closer to the bronze medal.
In the 48th minute of the match, Germany got a chance in the form of a penalty corner and Windfeder converted it into a goal. With this, the score became 5-4. After this India showed excellent defence and did not allow Germany to score.

जर्मनी की ओर से मैच के दूसरे ही मिनट में तिमूर ओरुज ने पहला गोल दाग दिया था| इसके बाद भारतीय टीम ने 17वें मिनट में वापसी की, जब सिमरनजीत सिंह ने जोरदार खेल दिखाते हुए जर्मन गोलकीपर को छकाया और गोल करने में सफल रहे|
इसके बाद जर्मनी की तरफ से निकलास वेलेन ने 24वें मिनट में अपना पहला और टीम के लिए दूसरा गोल कर जर्मनी 2-1 से आगे कर दिया| इसके बाद जर्मनी ने एक मिनट के अंदर एक और गोल दागा और अपनी लीड को 3-1 कर दिया|
मैच के 27वें मिनट में भारत को पैनल्टी कॉर्नर मिला और हार्दिक सिंह ने उसे गोल में तब्दील कर जर्मनी की बढ़त को कम कर दिया| इसके बाद भारत ने और आक्रामक खेल दिखाया और मैच का तीसरा गोल कर दिया| दूसरे क्वार्टर के खत्म होने से पहले 29वें मिनट में हरमनप्रीत ने यह शानदार गोल किया|
भारत ने तीसरे क्वार्टर में शानदार शुरुआत करते हुये भारत को पैनल्टी स्ट्रोक मिला और रुपिंदर ने गेंद को सीधा गोलपोस्ट में डाला और भारत को 4-3 की अहम और मजबूत बढ़त दिला दी| इसके बाद 34वें मिनट में सुमित के पास पर सिमरनजीत सिंह ने शानदार गोल दागा और भारत को 5-3 ये आगे कर कांस्य पदक के और करीब ले आए|
मैच के 48वें मिनट में जर्मनी को पैनल्टी कॉर्नर के रूप में मौका मिला और विंडफेडर ने उसे गोल में तब्दील कर दिया| इसी के साथ स्कोर 5-4 हो गया| इसके बाद भारत ने शानदार डिफेंस दिखाया और जर्मनी को गोल नहीं करने दिया|
