World Civil Aviation Day
In 1994, International Civil Aviation took its position in the activities marking the ICAO’s 50th anniversary. The UN General Assembly also declared December 7th as International Civil Aviation Day with the aid of the government of Canada and under the auspices of the ICAO initiative. (Day of Flight)
As the UN and other countries take on Agenda 2030 to initiate a new phase in global sustainability, few things are more significant compared with aviation as an agent of international intercourse about the Chicago Convention goals.
International Civil Aviation History:
Aviation had its birth in 1903 when the Wright Flyer was founded. Aviation only became popular before World War began, but in 1925 civic aviation was more common. Once post-war, civil aviation experienced massive involvement from the aviation market and reached its peak. The UN established the ICAO through its Chicago Convention in response to the increased preference for civil aviation. Regulations on air navigation, aircraft relations, and registration were established by the conference in conjunction with ICAO for safe stability.
Fifty years ago the Chicago Convention was commemorated on ICAO Day which is done annually in support of International Civil Aviation Day. In 1994, three years after passing the resolution, the United Nations General Assembly made it official to acknowledge International Civil Aviation Day.
International Civil Aviation Theme:
The International Civil Aviation Organization has been setting themes for International Civil Aviation Day every five years. The theme of ‘Advancing innovation for global aviation development’ will remain operational between this year and 2023.
Purpose of this day
Air Transport Safety Day, which takes place on 7 December, aims at improving the safety and efficiency of air transport, making people aware of the function of the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organisation) in air transport. ICAO belongs to the UN. It is their responsibility to write international standards of aviation.
