 The British national song ‘God! Unhappy with making the song ‘Save the Queen’ mandatory at every function in India, Bankim Chandra wrote the song ‘Vande Mataram’ in the year 1875-76 which was later included in the novel named Anandamath.

The year 2021 marks the 127th death anniversary of Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay. Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay has composed his national song ‘Vande Mataram’ which became the inspiration of revolutionaries in the era of the Indian freedom struggle.

Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay or Bankim Chandra Chatterjee, the author of India’s national song ‘Vande Mataram‘, was born in a traditional and prosperous family in Kanthalpada, Naihati (Bengal) of the Twenty-four Parganas. Eminent Bengali novelist, poet, prose and journalist and idealist of Rabindranath Thakur, Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay is called Alexander Dumas of India.

In the year 1857, Bankim Chandra was the first Indian to graduate from Presidency College, Kolkata. After taking a law degree in 1869, he was appointed to the post of Deputy Magistrate. Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay published the monthly magazine Bangdarshan in the year 1872.

In the magazine Bangdarshan, he published the novel Vishvriksha (1873) sequentially. Chatterjee’s last novel was Sitaram (1886). Others include Krishnakanther’s office, Mrinalini, Indira, Radharani, Devi Chaudharani, Mochiram Goucher Jeevancharit, Anandamath etc.

(वर्ष 2021 को बंकिमचन्द्र चट्टोपाध्याय की 127 वी पुण्यतिथि है | बंकिमचन्द्र चट्टोपाध्याय ने भारत के राष्ट्रीय गीत ‘वन्दे मातरम्’ उनकी ही रचना है जो भारतीय स्वतंत्रता संग्राम के काल में क्रान्तिकारियों का प्रेरणास्रोत बन गया था|)

(भारत के राष्ट्रीय गीत ‘वन्दे मातरम्’  के रचयिता बंकिमचन्द्र चट्टोपाध्याय या बंकिमचन्द्र चटर्जी का जन्म चौबीस परगना के कंठालपाड़ा, नैहाटी (बंगाल) में एक परंपरागत व समृद्ध परिवार में हुआ था| बंगाली के प्रख्यात उपन्यासकार, कवि, गद्यकार व पत्रकार तथा रवीन्द्रनाथ ठाकुर के आदर्श बंकिमचंद्र चट्टोपाध्याय को भारत के एलेक्जेंडर ड्युमस कहा जाता हैं|)

(वर्ष 1857 में बंकिमचंद्र कोलकाता के प्रेसीडेंसी कॉलेज से स्नातक करने वाले पहले भारतीय थे| 1869 में कानून की डिग्री लेने के बाद डिप्टी मजिस्ट्रेट के पद पर नियुक्त हुए| बंकिमचन्द्र चट्टोपाध्याय ने वर्ष 1872 में मासिक पत्रिका बंगदर्शन का प्रकाशन किया।)

(बंगदर्शन पत्रिका में उन्होंने विषवृक्ष (1873) उपन्यास का क्रमिक रूप से प्रकाशन किया था| चटर्जी का अंतिम उपन्यास सीताराम (1886) था| अन्य में कृष्णकांतेर दफ्तर, मृणालिनी, इंदिरा, राधारानी, देवी चौधरानी, मोचीराम गौरेर जीवनचरित, आनंदमठ इत्यादि शामिल है|)
