Delhi CM Kejriwal Launches ‘Switch Delhi’ Campaign to Promote Electric Vehicles
Recently, the Chief Minister of Delhi has started the ‘Switch Delhi’ campaign to promote electric vehicles and appealed people to buy such vehicles to combat pollution in the city.
Launching the ‘Switch Delhi’ campaign, Kejriwal said that his government will only hire electric vehicles for various purposes in the next six weeks. The Delhi government has set a target of 25 per cent electric vehicles among the total vehicle registrations in Delhi by 2024.
- In the ‘Switch Delhi’ campaign, awareness will be created about the benefits of electric vehicles.
- Since the policy launch in August 2020, more than 6,000 electric vehicles have been purchased. The government is planning to set up 100 charging stations across the city.
- As part of its electric vehicle policy, the Delhi government has planned a comprehensive subsidy on the purchase of electric two-wheeler and four-wheelers, in addition to waiving road tax and registration fees.
