DRDO successfully test-fires surface-to-air missile Akash-NG

Recently, the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has successfully flight-tested the new generation Akash missile (Akash-NG) from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) off the coast of Odisha.

The Akash missile system was developed by DRDO’s laboratory in Hyderabad in collaboration with other wings of the premier Defense Research Organization.

The Akash-NG weapon system is a surface-to-air missile that can strike targets from a range of about 60 km and fly at speeds up to 2.5 Mach.

The flight data has confirmed the success of the missile test. DRDO deployed several surveillance systems like electro-optical tracking systems, radar and telemetry.
