Lasith Malinga Retired From Franchise Cricket

Recently, Sri Lankan veteran bowler Lasith Malinga has decided to retire from franchise cricket, he was part of the Mumbai Indians franchise in the Indian Premier League since 2008.
Lasith Malinga said that Mumbai Indians have considered him a part of his family, he has supported me 100% in every situation, both on the playground and even outside the playground.
The Mumbai Indians management respected Lasith Malinga’s decision and, therefore, they were not retained as part of the franchise’s 18-member Retention Squad, which was announced on 20 January.
The Mumbai Indians, who won the IPL title for a record fifth time in the 2020 season, maintained their 18-man core group on January 20, 2021, and did not retain seven players including Lasith Malinga, Nathan Culper Nile and James Pattinson.
Lasith Malinga is a part of the Mumbai Indians IPL franchise since 2008, winning 28 Purple Cap Awards for the most wickets in the fourth IPL season, taking 28 wickets in 16 matches.
Lasith Malinga was also the highest wicket-taker in the 2011 Champions League Twenty20 and for this performance, he won a Golden Wicket and won the tournament player’s award.
