Renu Devi became the first woman Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar
Recently, Renu Devi took the oath of office as the first woman Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar. Renu Devi, who has held the post of minister in the Bihar government, has been elected as BJP MLA for the fifth time from Bettiah. In the BJP Legislature Party meeting on 15 November 2020, Tarkishore Prasad has been elected as the leader and Renu Devi as the deputy leader. Renu Devi belongs to Nonia community under the Backward Classes.

Renu Devi, an inter pass from Muzaffarpur University in 1977, was active in political and social work since 1988. She first became an MLA in the year 2000 and after that she also won the 2005 and 2010 assembly elections, but in 2015 she lost by a margin of less than two thousand votes.
(साल 1977 में मुजफ्फरपुर विवि से इंटर पास रेणु देवी 1988 से ही राजनीतिक व सामाजिक कार्यों में सक्रिय रहीं | वे पहली बार साल 2000 में विधायक बनी थी और उसके बाद 2005 और 2010 के विधानसभा चुनाव में भी जीत दर्ज की थी, लेकिन 2015 में दो हजार से भी कम वोटों के अंतर से उन्हें पराजय का सामना करना पड़ा था |)
