On Saturday, the Pakistani government’s Twitter account was blocked in India. The social media business claimed that this action was taken in answer to a legal request from the Centre.

Earlier this year, this was discovered that India ranked second in terms of requesting information from platform users and was one of the top five nations to order Twitter to censor material throughout the reporting period for all types of users.

The microblogging platform reported receiving 326 legal requests to ban information posted by verified journalist and news organization accounts in the last 6 months of 2021, 114 of which originated from India and accounted for more than a third of all blocking requests.

The top four countries that made such demands on Twitter were India, Pakistan, Russia, and Turkey.

349 verified journalists and media organization accounts from across the globe have been the target of 326 relevant laws, according to Twitter.

This is a 103% rise from the number of accounts during the prior reporting period (Jan – Dec 2021). Legal petitions filed by Pakistan (48), Turkey (48),  Russia (55), and India are mostly to blame for this surge (114).

US embassy: US student visa interviews will begin in November https://dailycurrentaffairs.online/2022/09/us-embassy-us-student-visa-interviews-will-begin-in-november.html https://dailycurrentaffairs.online/2022/09/us-embassy-us-student-visa-interviews-will-begin-in-november.html#respond Thu, 29 Sep 2022 15:17:00 +0000 https://dailycurrentaffairs.online/2022/09/29/us-embassy-us-student-visa-interviews-will-begin-in-november/ On Thursday, the US embassy in India stated that interviews for student visas will begin in the middle of November and go until the end of December.

us-embassy-us-student-visa-interviews

During a live Facebook conversation about the length of time it takes to process visas and other consular issues across India, Don Heflin, Minister Counselor for Consular Affairs at the US Embassy, made the same announcement (which was also streamed on Instagram)

Heflin declared the interviews would take place throughout mid-November towards the end of December and that we would open up for the initial half in mid-October and the second half in mid-November while fielding questions about student visas for the United States.

The US Mission in India has granted a record-breaking 82,000 visa applications in 2022 to date, according to embassy officials, who also noted that Indian students have obtained more US student visas than students from any other nation.

However, many people across the nation are worried about the holdup in the process of Indian applicants for US visas. They said that both students and working people were being “harmed” by the delay.

In response, the US Embassy in India posted a notice on its website earlier this month that read: Due to decreased staffing and innumerable virus outbreak interruptions to our processes as of March 2020.

consultation demand has risen throughout all visa classifications and waiting lists may be long and complicated for most regular non-immigrant appointment times now at U.S. Embassy in New Delhi as well as the embassies in Chennai,  Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Mumbai.

Through the end of December 2022, the Department of State said it has given consular officials permission to exclude certain types of visa applicants from having to appear in person for an interview.

Jaishankar had brought up the massive backlog of Indian visa applications to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Washington, and the senior American diplomat responded that he was aware of the situation and had a strategy to handle it.

“I want to let individuals who are concerned about visa issues know that I understand their worry and the urgency, and that is precisely the reason why I picked up the subject,” he said.

India has the world’s largest pay growth of 10.6% in 2022 https://dailycurrentaffairs.online/2022/09/india-has-the-worlds-largest-pay-growth-of-10-6-in-2022.html https://dailycurrentaffairs.online/2022/09/india-has-the-worlds-largest-pay-growth-of-10-6-in-2022.html#respond Wed, 28 Sep 2022 08:21:00 +0000 https://dailycurrentaffairs.online/2022/09/28/india-has-the-worlds-largest-pay-growth-of-10-6-in-2022/ According to the poll, four of the five industries with the biggest forecasted pay increases are technology-related, and they face the most volatility and influence from the present global economic instability.

India has the world's largest pay growth of 10.6% in 2022

According to an Aon plc poll, salaries in India are predicted to climb by 10.4% in 2023, following an annual rise of 10.6% in 2022. This worldwide professional services organization examined data from 1,300 companies in over 40 Indian countries.

According to study results, India is the only nation with the biggest income growth in 2022, at 10.6%, compared to other nations such as China (6%), Brazil (5.6%), Japan (3%), Germany (3.5%), the United Kingdom (4%), and the United States (4.5%).

In contrast, India recorded a single-digit salary growth prior to the pandemic, that is, 9.3% in 2019, which plummeted to 6.1percent in 2020 and 9.3percent in 2021, when the nation was affected by the coronavirus epidemic.

Salary increase figures by industry

According to the poll, four of the five industries with the biggest forecasted pay increases are technology-related, and they face the most volatility and influence from the present global economic instability.

E-commerce had the greatest forecasted wage rise of 12.8%, trailed by start-ups @ 12.7%, hi-tech/information tech, and information security services at 11.3%, and financial firms at 10.7%.

Volatility, according to Jang Bahadur Singh, head of Human Capital Solutions at Aon in India, is a primary factor of wage increases by industry; hence, the highest salary increases occur in the most variable industries.

Increase in the rate of attrition

Aside from compensation increases, the study found that the dropout rate in the first part of 2022 remained high at 20.3%, just barely less than the 21% reported in 2021, putting pressure on wages.

According to an official announcement released by Aon plc, this tendency is expected to remain over the next few months.

Roopank Chaudhary, an associate of Human Capital Solutions at Aon in India, stated in an official statement that pays rises in India for 2023 are expected to be in the double digits, despite global recessionary headwinds and fluctuating domestic inflations.

It represents the confidence that corporate India has in its outstanding business success.

However, corporate leaders must make choices that ensure their long-term production is resilient today and in the future, he added.

They must also evaluate their reward management strategies and stability of the effects of increasing costs as well as salary stresses with a comparatively high dropout and the continuing demand for critical talent.

Vladimir Putin issues a partial call to mobilise for Russian citizens

The Kremlin-backed initiatives to engulf four districts may pave the way for Moscow to intensify the conflict after the Ukrainian victories.

Words of Putin

“The West has gone too far. Russia is being weakened, divided, and destroyed by the West. support for citizens’ right to choose their own destinies.

Targets of special operation remain the same: total liberation of LPR, partial liberation of DPR ” Putin said.

The polls, which have been anticipated since the beginning of the war, will begin on Friday in the areas of Luhansk, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, and Donetsk, which are partially under Russian control.

Putin claimed to have approved the partial mobilization edict, which will take effect on Wednesday.

The Russian president cautioned the West in a nationally televised speech that was also broadcast that he isn’t kidding about using every tool at his command to defend Russian territory.

According to authorities, there might be up to 300,000 reservists overall.

According to Putin, “We are discussing partial mobilization, which means that only individuals who are now in the reserve would be subject to induction, and in particular, those who served in the armed services have a specific military specialization and necessary expertise.”

Putin claimed to have authorized a partial mobilization starting on Wednesday and claimed that the West was at fault for not safeguarding Russian territory.

Who’ll be called up?

Only individuals with significant combat and service expertise will be called up, according to Sergei Shoigu, the Russian defense minister.

Only about 1% of the approximately 25,000,000 people who meet this need will be mobilized, he continued.

The majority of professional soldiers are prohibited from ending their contracts and quitting the military under another provision of the regulation until partial mobilization has ended.

Putin’s declaration, according to Russian political expert Dmitry Oreshkin, smelled of “an act of desperation.” He anticipated that “passive sabotage” will be used by Russians to thwart the mobilization.

In an interview with The Associated Press on Wednesday, Oreshkin stated that “people will escape this mobilization in every imaginable manner, bribe their way out of this mobilization, and flee the country.”

What’s the effect after the announcement?

Shortly after Putin’s speech, Russian media reported a huge increase in demand for international flights, despite the fact that there have been far fewer available since the start of the conflict and that they are considerably more expensive now.

Oreshkin predicted that the statement won’t be well received by the general public, calling it “Russian civilians, who until recently (participated in the wars) with joy, lying on their sofas, (watching) TV, have suffered a severe personal setback. And now their house is a battlefield.”
