Recently Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched an app called “Call Before You Dig” which will prove to be effective in protecting underground utility assets such as optical fiber cables from damaging underground utility assets.

Information about the ‘Call Before You Dig’ app:

The app has been jointly developed by the Bhaskaracharya Institute of Space Applications and Geoinformatics, under the Ministry of Land and Information Technology of India and the Government of Gujarat. Its main objective is to preserve the country’s underground public infrastructure.

Why the need for the ‘Call Before You Dig’ app arose:

In the past years, the government and other companies have suffered a lot of damage to underground cables during excavation, after which it has been developed jointly by the Bhaskaracharya Institute of Space Applications and Geoinformatics, working under the Ministry of Information Technology and the Government of Gujarat.

The “Call Before You Dig” app will facilitate coordination between miners and asset owners through SMS/email notifications and click-to-call options.

This will help the companies doing the work of planned mining and lines to work and ensure that the relevant authorities are informed before any digging.

Using this application, retail excavators will also be informed about the location and depth of underground useful assets, which will help them plan their work and avoid any damage to these assets.

The app will help reduce the cost of damaging damages caused by unorganized digging, and ensure that the nation’s underground facility wealth is better protected.

VIKALP : A choice to skip a waiting train ticket https://dailycurrentaffairs.online/2022/10/vikalp-a-choice-to-skip-a-waiting-train-ticket.html https://dailycurrentaffairs.online/2022/10/vikalp-a-choice-to-skip-a-waiting-train-ticket.html#respond Mon, 10 Oct 2022 16:43:00 +0000 https://dailycurrentaffairs.online/2022/10/10/vikalp-a-choice-to-skip-a-waiting-train-ticket/ Any other train that leaves within 30 minutes & 72 hours following the initial train may be selected by the passenger as their new destination. The VIKALP plan is a method for getting a confirmed ticket before charting by avoiding the waitlist.

Prior to the complete digitization of the ticket ordering process, customers holding waiting tickets were permitted to board trains without a confirmed seat; however, today, wait-listed tickets are revoked, and a refund is given in their place.

For a regular Indian Railways passenger, waiting for one wait-listed ticket to be approved is among the closest things to gambling.

However, Indian Railways does have a remedy for this issue in the form of the Alternate Train Accommodation Program, or VIKALP.

With the aim of delivering confirmed lodgings to wait-listed passengers and ensuring the best use of available accommodations, the Alternate Train Accommodation Scheme (ATAS), commonly known as “VIKALP,” has been put into place in all Mail/Express trains.

According to this plan, travelers on the waitlist are dependent on the availability of available housing and must offer an alternative when purchasing their tickets.

Before charting, the VIKALP scheme is an option that is accessible through the purchased ticket history link as well as at a later time.

Important aspects of the plan

  • Selecting VIKALP does not guarantee that travelers will receive a confirmed seat on a different train. It depends on the availability of trains and berths.
  • The program is accessible to all passengers on the waiting list, regardless of booking quota or discount, and it is valid for all train types and classes.
  • Passengers can choose up to 7 trains under this program for the VIKALP program.
  • The opportunity to switch to a train leaving between 30 minutes and 72 hours after the initial train for which the wait-listed ticket was purchased is available to passengers.

Standing firmly supports the repeated Indian crime of Gambia child killings https://dailycurrentaffairs.online/2022/10/standing-firmly-supports-the-repeated-indian-crime-of-gambia-child-killings.html https://dailycurrentaffairs.online/2022/10/standing-firmly-supports-the-repeated-indian-crime-of-gambia-child-killings.html#respond Mon, 10 Oct 2022 16:28:00 +0000 https://dailycurrentaffairs.online/2022/10/10/standing-firmly-supports-the-repeated-indian-crime-of-gambia-child-killings/ The cough syrup that killed 66 children in the Gambia was not sold locally in India, as the Central Drug Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) has quickly assured the public.

However, the same company, Maiden Pharmaceuticals, has a history of producing subpar medications in this nation; the first instance dates back to 2011 when it was blacklisted in Bihar.

Additionally, CDSCO has not commented on the “unacceptable” levels of diethylene glycol (DEG) and ethylene glycol that are said to have contributed to the deaths of children in the Gambia and Jammu in January 2020.

A cough medication produced by a separate business, M/s Digital Vision, included DEG, which killed children in Jammu.

Why the action was not taken properly?

According to the 1940 Medications and Cosmetics Act, the penalty for producing or selling fake drugs that might result in death is from 10 years to life in jail and a fine of Rs 10 lakh or three times the value of the substance that was seized.

No one from Digital Vision has received a penalty to date, and all of the accused have been released on bail.

The goods of Digital Vision were discovered to be “not of standard quality” seven times between 2014 and 2019, the same number as in the case of Maiden Pharmaceuticals.

Established in 1990, Maiden Pharmaceuticals has production facilities in Kundli, Panipat, and Solan in Haryana and Himachal Pradesh, with its corporate headquarters in Pitampura, Delhi.

DEG fatalities are not new in India. In addition to the 12 kids that passed away in Jammu in 2020, 33 people died in Delhi in 1998, 14 people died in Mumbai in 1986, and 14 people perished in Chennai in 1973.

However, the CDSCO has claimed that “the WHO has not yet furnished the CDSCO with an accurate one-to-one causal link of mortality.” Some medications include DEG as a solvent, although the permitted quantity is quite low in India—just 0.1% to 2%.

5g-services-will-be-provided-soon-pm

It lasts for four days and takes place at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. Users will be able to access 5G services by Diwali, ending the country’s long wait for the technology.

PM Narendra Modi saw demonstrations of 5G services and advantages from leading firms like Airtel, Reliance Jio, and Qualcomm.

He also seized the chance to learn more about end-to-end 5G technology’s local development and how it can help bridge the healthcare delivery gap between urban and rural locations.

In addition to providing customers with higher internet speeds, the most recent 5G network will assist the government in a number of sectors, including disaster management and agriculture, among others.

Jio will provide a 5G network at the lowest rates

Mukesh Ambani, chairman of Reliance Industries, stated that Jio will deliver “the greatest quality and most affordable price that anyone else has in the world.

” By December 2023, the telecom provider promises to provide 5G to every part of India. Airtel has stated that it would begin rolling out 5G today in 8 locations.

Although the corporation did state that Mumbai, Delhi, Varanasi, and Bangalore will get 5G today, the identities of all the cities remain unknown. Vodafone Idea will shortly start rolling out 5G.

5G will be 10 times faster

People would be able to enjoy 10 times the internet speed than 4G when 5G is first introduced in a few major metro areas.

According to reports, it can transport data at a maximum rate of up to 20Gbps per second, or more than 100Mbps per second.

At the moment, 4G offers speeds of up to 1Gbps. The government has previously affirmed that 5G plans would be released in India at reasonable pricing and that customers won’t be asked to pay much for them.

IGI airport will have 5G connectivity soon

The Indira Gandhi international airport in Delhi now has 5G capability, which is noteworthy. As a result, airport travelers will soon be able to travel at higher speeds.

In the upcoming weeks, Airtel, Jio, and Vodafone Idea are anticipated to release rates for their 5G services.

as-winter-approaches-how-will-delhi

According to Kejriwal, the Delhi administration would work with the federal government and other states to keep Delhi clean during winter.

Kejriwal also asserted that the Particulate Matter (PM) 10 level in the nation’s capital has dropped by 18.6% due to a significant reduction in air pollution.

According to the Indian government’s National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) study, air pollution in 2021–2022 would be much lower than in 2017–2018. PM 10 levels have decreased by 18.6% “explained him.

The Delhi government’s 15-point action plan is as follows:

The installation of 233 anti-smog guns, at least 150 mobile anti-smog guns, and the creation of 611 teams to monitor open rubbish burning are all part of the 15-point action plan.

Additionally, -586 teams have been organized to monitor citywide construction sites and successfully carry out the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP).

Additionally, officers from the Delhi government will make sure that anti-smog weapons are installed at any building site greater than 5,000 square meters.

For stringent enforcement of adherence to Pollution Under Control certifications and to guarantee that diesel and petrol cars older than 10 years and 15 years, respectively, are not operating, 380 teams have been created.

Delhi government mandated the use of anti-smog guns

The Delhi government mandated the use of anti-smog weapons on all building and demolition sites greater than 5000 m2 in the city and its environs on Tuesday. This year, workers will also apply Pusabio decomposer to the stubble on about 5,000 acres.

The Delhi government also established a supersite at Rouse Avenue to track air quality in real-time and create forecasts in collaboration with IIT Kanpur.

To monitor open rubbish burning and to conduct an anti-dust campaign, 611 teams have been constituted. Additionally, squads have been organized by the government to enforce the cracker ban throughout the forthcoming holiday season.

Additionally, the Delhi government is creating an “e-waste park” where electronic garbage gathered from the nation’s capital would be stored.

A 9-person expert team would be working continuously and intensively to establish a strategy in the 24-7 Green more Room, which would be operational as of October 3.

Delaying the 6-airbag rule for passenger vehicles by one year https://dailycurrentaffairs.online/2022/09/delaying-the-6-airbag-rule-for-passenger-vehicles-by-one-year.html https://dailycurrentaffairs.online/2022/09/delaying-the-6-airbag-rule-for-passenger-vehicles-by-one-year.html#respond Thu, 29 Sep 2022 15:15:00 +0000 https://dailycurrentaffairs.online/2022/09/29/delaying-the-6-airbag-rule-for-passenger-vehicles-by-one-year/ Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, said on Thursday that the 6-airbag requirement for passenger vehicles will go into effect in October 2023.

delaying-6-airbag-rule-for-passenger

For improved occupant safety, the road transport ministry has previously intended to mandate six airbags in eight-seater automobiles starting on October 1, 2022.

Gadkari added that owing to issues with the global supply chain, the ministry had to postpone the execution of the plan to make 6 airbags standard in passenger automobiles by a year.

Gadkari tweeted, “It’s been opted to adopt the suggestion requiring a minimum of 6 Airbags in Passenger Cars (M-1 Category) w.e.f. October 1, 2023.

This is due to the global supply chain limitations being witnessed by the automobile sector and its impact on the macroeconomic environment.

The protection of all travelers in motor vehicles, regardless of their cost or variations, was also emphasized by the minister of transportation for the road.

“Safety of all travelers in motor vehicles, regardless of its cost and varieties, is the main responsibility.” Gadkari tweeted.

Gadkari has previously emphasized the necessity of adopting safety standards for vehicles in the nation, highlighting the need to consider the safety of passengers in small economic automobiles.

“The majority of Indian automakers ship vehicles with six airbags. However, they are hesitant in India due to the business model and cost “explained he.

Gadkari questioned why car companies do not consider the lives of Americans who drive subcompact vehicles. Most lower-middle-class individuals purchase little economy vehicles.

A vehicle’s airbag is an occupant restraint device that intervenes between both the driver as well as the dashboard during an accident to shield the driver from severe injury.

The National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) reports that more than 1.55 lakh people died in road collisions in India last year, which is the greatest death toll ever recorded for a calendar year. This translates to 18 deaths each hour or 426 per day on average.

Over 11 percent of the total injuries and deaths in road traffic accidents in India between 2010 and 2020 were attributable to the failure to utilize seat belts, according to the research.

government-gives-warning-against-fake

On September 24, Saturday, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) released an advice warning optimistic youngsters and applicants about ‘fake employment rackets advertising lucrative opportunities.’

The warning came just days after the MEA warned that 60 Indian citizens had been scammed by an international swindle that promised opportunities in Thailand only to unlawfully transport naive candidates to Myanmar.

Job description for a fake job

In Thailand, an international scam is advertising for ‘Digital Sales and Marketing Executives.’ Dubious IT businesses involved in call-centre scams and cryptocurrency fraud were offering the positions.

IT-skilled Indian youngsters were promised attractive data entry employment in Thailand via social media adverts as well as agents operating in Dubai and India.

Scam

The MEA notified the passengers that they were being sent to Myanmar rather than Myanmar. They were held hostage and confined in the Myawaddy region to work under severe conditions.

Notably, Myawaddy is not subject to the jurisdiction of Myanmar’s government, which is now led by the Military Junta.

According to the MEA, ethnic armed groups wield power, and Indians, as well as a number of other foreign people, are held captive.

60 Indians were duped and held captive.

According to the External Affairs Ministry, the Indian embassy is collaborating with the Myanmar government to free Indian nationals who have been held hostage by ethnic groups.

“Many attempts are being taken to save these Indians through different commercial linkages.” Thus far, the Mission has rescued around 30 Indians who were stuck in the Myawaddyregion and is working hard to bring others out as soon as possible

“MEA personnel who’ve been aware of the situation,” ANI reported on September 18. The MEA further stated that there is an increase in the number of such fraudulent jobs being provided to Indians.

MEA advice

On Saturday, the Ministry of External Affairs issued a warning to adolescents about fraudulent jobs. “Indian citizens are strongly advised not to be involved in such phoney job offers being presented via social networks or other channels,” according to the advisory.

Before travelling on a tourism destination visa for employment reasons, Indian citizens should check/verify the qualifications of international employers through appropriate missions overseas, as well as the antecedents of recruitment agencies and any organisation before accepting any job offer.”

Fraud jobs in India

Many people lost their employment as a result of the two-year coronavirus pandemic-induced lockdown; some were laid off, while others were forced to close their businesses.

According to several accounts, police officers have seen an increase in work scams since the outbreak.

For India, where a vast number of people rely on daily work to exist, and the ongoing needs of an increasing middle class, the desire for growth remains enormous.

To comprehend this, one must first recognise that India is rigid and fiercely competitive. With a growing population and elite colleges imposing excessively high entry standards, individuals who make the cut must be guaranteed jobs every year, something the government consistently falls short of.

There is no guarantee that getting into a good institution would ensure you a post, and even if you do get a position, there will always be a swarm of applicants waiting in the background.

Targeting competent kids, who are plenty in our country, is a simple crime.

India’s unemployment rate

According to figures from the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE), India’s jobless rate rose to a one-year high of 8.3 per cent in August, as employment plummeted by 2 million to 394.6 million.

In July, the rate of unemployment was 6.8 per cent, and there were 397 million people working.

Rural India’s jobless rate increased from 6.1% in July to 7.7% in August. More notably, the unemployment rate declined from 37.6% to 37.3%.

“The urban rate of unemployment is often higher at approximately 8% than the rural rate of unemployment, which is typically around 7%. In August, the urban jobless rate rose to 9.6%, while the rural unemployment rate rose to 7.7% “CMIE MD Mahesh Vyas stated.
