This will be the first time that India will have two flag bearers in the Olympics. To which Mary Kom said that this will be a big moment for me because this is my last Olympics.
For the first time, six-time world champion boxer Mary Kom and men’s hockey team captain Manpreet Singh will be India’s flag bearers at the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics 2020-21. Also, wrestler Bajrang Punia will be the Indian flag bearer in the closing ceremony on 08 August 2021.
The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has conveyed its decision to the organizing committee of the Olympic Games. The Olympic Games will start on 23 July 2021 in Tokyo. Which will end on August 8.
The Tokyo Olympics was canceled last year due to the Corona epidemic. This year too, due to the increasing cases of Corona, questions were being raised on the conduct of the Olympic Games. But after this, it was decided to hold these games from 23rd July.
