Recently, US President Donald Trump has honored Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the prestigious ‘Legion of Merit’ award. India’s Ambassador to the US Taranjit Singh Sandhu accepted the award on behalf of the Prime Minister from the US National Security Advisor Robert O’Brien.

The Legion of Merit is one of America’s most respected awards, given to the head of a country or government. The Legion of Merit Medal was established by the Congress on 20 July 1942.

The Legion of Merit Medal is a five-ray white cross with red edges, with a blue center with 13 white stars, with a green garland-like shape at the edges.

President Trump of the US has also awarded the Legion of Merit to Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison and former Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe.
