Veteran Bengali actor Soumitra Chatterjee dies
Recently, noted Bengali actor and Soumitra Chatterjee, who was awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, has passed away. He became famous after working with Oscar-winning film director Satyajit Ray, after which he appeared in fourteen films. He received many other awards at home and abroad. Saumitra Chatterjee received the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, India’s highest honor in cinema, in 2012, the Padma Bhushan by the Government of India in 2004. Saumitra Chattopadhyay was the first Indian to be awarded the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, France’s highest award given to artists in 1999.
(हाल ही मे, प्रख्यात बंगाली अभिनेता और दादा साहब फाल्के पुरस्कार से सम्मनित सौमित्र चटर्जी का निधन हो गया है। वह ऑस्कर विजेता फिल्म निर्देशक सत्यजीत रे मे साथ काम के बाद प्रसिद्ध हुए, जिनके बाद उन्हे चौदह फिल्मों में काम मिला। उन्होंने देश और विदेश में कई अन्य पुरस्कार मिले। सौमित्र चटर्जी को 2004 में भारत सरकार द्वारा पद्म भूषण, 2012 में सिनेमा में दिए जाने वाला भारत का सर्वोच्च सम्मान दादा साहब फाल्के अवार्ड मिला था।सौमित्र चटोपाध्याय 1999 में कलाकारों को दिए जाने वाले फ्रांस के सर्वोच्च पुरस्कार ऑर्ड्रे डेस आर्ट्स एट डेस लेट्रेस (Ordre des Arts et des Lettres) से सम्मानित होने वाले पहले भारतीय थे।)
