World Water Day, held on 22 March every year since 1993, celebrates water and raises awareness of the 2.2 billion people living without access to safe water.
It was announced to celebrate World Water Day at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) held in Rio de Janeiro in 1992. Which was first organized on March 22, 1993. In order to make the world aware of the need for water, the United Nations started celebrating ‘World Water Day.
A theme of World Water Day is laid out every year. This year’s theme is “Valuing Water”, which aims to make people understand the importance of water. Today, there are many countries in the world where people do not get even drinking water and then people face many health-related problems by drinking dirty water.
(1992 में रियो डि जेनेरियो में आयोजित पर्यावरण तथा विकास पर संयुक्त राष्ट्र सम्मेलन (UNCED) में विश्व जल दिवस को मनाने की घोषणा की थी| जिसका आयोजन पहली बार 1993 में 22 मार्च को हुआ था| दुनिया को पानी की जरूरत से अवगत कराने के मकसद से संयुक्त राष्ट्र ने ‘विश्व जल दिवस” मनाने की शुरुआत की थी|)
(प्रति वर्ष विश्व जल दिवस की एक थीम रखी जाती है| इस साल की थीम “वेल्यूइंग वाटर” है, जिसका लक्ष्य लोगों को पानी का महत्व समझाना है| आज दुनिया में कई देश ऐसे हैं जहां लोगों को पीने तक का पानी नहीं मिल पाता और फिर लोग गंदा पानी पीकर कई सारी स्वास्थ्य संबंधी समस्याओं का सामना करते हैं|)
