5 new waterways added from India and Bangladesh
Five new ports of call have been added on the Indian side, Maya, Kolaghat, Sonamura, Dhulian, and Jogigopa respectively, while on the Bangladesh side they have added Sultanganj, Rajshahi, Chilmari, Bahadurgabad and Daudkandi.

India and Bangladesh have added the Indo-Bangladesh protocol routes in Dhaka on May 20, 2020, with four new routes covering the Gomti River in Tripura and the Sonmura-Dawoodakandi route on the Rajshahi-Dhulian-Rajshahi route in Bangladesh.

Additionally, five more ports will promote bilateral trade between the two countries and provide and promote economic development of additional locations.

The Appendix to the Protocol on Inland Water Transit and Trade has been signed by Indian High Commissioner of Bangladesh Rewa Ganguly Das and Shipping Secretary of Bangladesh Meja Uddin Chaudhary.
