Former NASA astronaut and geologist, Catherine D. Sullivan became the first woman to reach the ocean’s deepest point, the Mariana Trench. She is also the first American woman to walk in space, becoming the first woman to reach the deepest known place in the ocean.
According to EYOS Expeditions, the company that coordinates the mission’s logistics, Sullivan landed with his 35,810-foot diving to Challenger Deep. She has become the first person to walk-in space and descend to the deepest point.
