Javed Akhtar became the first Indian to win the prestigious Richard Dawkins Award

Javed Akhtar, Bollywood Film writer, and lyricist Richard Dawkins became the first Indian to receive the award 2020. He won this award for advancing human progress, critical thinking and humanitarian value.

(जावेद अख्तर, बॉलीवुड अभिनेता व लेखक, और गीतकार रिचर्ड डॉकिन्स पुरस्कार 2020 प्राप्त करने वाले पहले भारतीय बने हैं। उन्होंने मानव प्रगति, महत्वपूर्ण सोच और मानवतावादी मूल्य को आगे बढ़ाने के लिए यह  पुरस्कार जीता।)

The award has been presented since 2003 in the name of English evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins. The prestigious award is given to a distinguished person from the world of scholarship, science, entertainment and education.

Past recipients of this prestigious award include English-American intellectual, social critic, writer, and philosopher Christopher Hitchens, and American TV host, political commentator and comedian Bill Maher.
