Emmy Award winning television producer Krishnendu Majumdar has been appointed as the new president of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA). He is the first black person to be elected as the president of BAFTA in the 73-year history of BAFTA. He will replace Pippa Harris, who will now continue serving as deputy chairperson.

Mazumdar has previously served as the Chairman of the Learning and New Talent Committee (2006–2010), the Chairman of the Television Committee (2015–2019), and in the leading group of trustees for 9 years. He has been associated with BAFTA for 14 years.
