Recently Nagpur-based All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has designed and developed a ‘smart wristband’ for effective tracking and monitoring of Covid-19 infected and suspected patients.
This new wristband device is designed by IIT Jodhpur and IIT Nagpur to overcome the problems of the existing online mobile apps used for tracking and monitoring of coronovirus patients.
About ‘smart wristband’:
  • This device will work on a technology that is more effective than the GPS system.
  • The data collected through the wrist band will be collected and stored on the cloud being monitored by health workers.
  •  Now tracking the infected person’s routine through mobile application is limited.
  • Currently, there is no mechanism to assess symptoms that assess the user on their own.
  • Existing mobile apps use GPS or cell tower triangulation methods for tracking locations with accuracy that can sometimes vary within a range of 1.5 to 2 kilometers.
