Chandrika prasad Santokhi of Indian origin was elected President of Suriname

Recently, Chandrikaprasad ‘Chan’ Santokhi of Indian origin has been elected as the President of the South American country “Suriname”. Santokhi of the Progressive Reform Party (PRP), a former justice minister, was elected unopposed president. He will replace former military dictator Daisy Bouterse, whose National Party of Suriname (NPS) lost in the May elections due to putting the country in economic crisis.
