Anti-trafficking police stations to be built in each district of UP

Recently, the Uttar Pradesh government has taken a major step towards protecting women and children, and has decided to set up an anti-trafficking police station in each district. Police stations will be given adequate powers to register the case and investigate the matter independently.

The state government is going to set up 40 new anti-trafficking units which will act like police stations in the districts and conduct investigations after registering cases. Earlier, only 35 districts in the state had police stations of anti-human trafficking units, which were set up in 2011 and 2018. The new police stations are being set up following instructions from the Women’s Safety Division of the Central Government. Funds for these units will also be allocated by the central government.
