Gyanendro Ningobam of Manipur becomes the new president of Hockey India
Gyanendro Ningombam from Manipur was elected unopposed as the chairman of Hockey India, while former chairman Mohammad Mushtaq Ahmed has rejoined the executive board of Hockey India after being elected unopposed to the post of senior vice president. Prior to this, Gyanendro Ningobam has been serving as the acting president of Hockey India since July 2020.

- After being elected unopposed, Gyanendra became the President to lead Hockey India from Northeast India. He will serve as the head of the National Federation for two years.
- Gyanendra has been associated with hockey discipline in Manipur for the last 40 years, and the federation is impressed with his work at the grassroots.
- He has also been Senior Vice President of Hockey India, Senior Vice President of Manipur Hockey and Chief Executive Officer of Manipur Hockey. He has also served as the editor of the daily evening paper Meem in Manipur.
