India has invited British Prime Minister Boris Johnson as the Chief Guest on Republic Day 2021. Last week, during one of his phone calls from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he invited this invitation to the Prime Minister of Britain.

British High Commissioner to India John Thompson said in November 2020 that UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson would soon visit India for an “in-person” visit.
Reports of the invite came on the same day the UK became the first country in the world to approve the COVID-19 vaccine developed by US drugmaker Pfizer and its German prtner BioNTech, with the roll-out set to begin early next week.
If Johnson accepts the invite Republic Day Chief Guest 2021 , he would become the first British prime minister to grace the parade at Rajpath in nearly three decades.
