A Book Titled The Population Myth : Islam, Family Planning and Politics in India will be Launched
Former Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) SY Qureshi has brought out his book “The Population Myth: Islam, Family Planning and Politics in India” which will be released on February 15, 2021. It will be published by Harper Collins India.
SY Qureshi served as the Chief Election Commissioner from July 30, 2010 to June 10, 2012. He did many electoral reforms such as a voter education division, expenditure monitoring division, India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management and also launched National Voters’ Day.
This book evaluates India’s demography from a religious point of view and seeks to debunk two basic myths that ‘Islam is against family planning’ and ‘Muslim growth rate’ is associated with seizing political power.
In this book, a detailed analysis of ‘Muslim growth rate’ has been done, citing population data and national and international reports. Also, this book examines the important and urgent question of politicization of demography in India.
