Odisha Famous Toshali National Crafts Mela Begins

Toshali Crafts Mela is one of the most popular handlooms and handicraft fairs in Eastern India. All visitors to the Toshali National Crafts Fair have been advised to follow the Covid-19 norms.

Three artisans were given the State Handicrafts Award 2019 at this fair. The three winners are Dilip Kumar Swain (palm leaf engraving), Divyajyoti Behera (stonecraft), and Priyanka Patra (terracotta). The awards were given by Padmini Dian, Minister of State for Handlooms, Textiles and Handicrafts.

Seven other artisans were honoured with the State Artwork Award, Ronibala Mahapatra (Patachitra), Sushant Kumar Das and Nityananda Sa (stonecraft), Suresh Chandra Mahapatra (applique), Nirmal Chandra Das (palm leaf engraving) and Kuni Patra (Coir craft) etc.

A total of 250 stalls have been set up at the Janata Maidan site for this fair, showcasing the best handlooms and handicrafts from across the country. Of these, 170 stalls represent Odisha textiles and crafts and 80 stalls are from other states.

(इस मेले में तीन कारीगरों को राज्य हस्तशिल्प पुरस्कार 2019 प्रदान किया गया। यह तीन विजेता दिलीप कुमार स्वैन (ताड़ का पत्ता उत्कीर्णन), दिव्यज्योति बेहरा (पत्थर शिल्प), और प्रियंका पात्रा (टेराकोटा) है। यह पुरस्कार हथकरघा, कपड़ा और हस्तशिल्प की राज्य मंत्री पद्मिनी दियान द्वारा दिये गए।) 

(सात अन्य कारीगरों को राज्य कलाकृती पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया गया, ये पुरस्कार रोनीबाला महापात्रा (पटचित्र), सुशांत कुमार दास और नित्यानंद सा (पत्थर शिल्प), सुरेश चंद्र महापात्रा (applique), निर्मल चंद्र दास (ताड़ का पत्ता उत्कीर्णन) और कुनी पात्रा (कॉयर शिल्प) आदि को मिले।)

(इस मेले के लिए जनता मैदान स्थल पर कुल 250 स्टॉल लगाए गए हैं, जिसमें देश भर से सर्वश्रेष्ठ हथकरघा और हस्तशिल्प प्रदर्शित किए गए हैं। इनमे से 170 स्टाल ओडिशा वस्त्र और शिल्प का प्रतिनिधित्व करते हैं और 80 स्टॉल अन्य राज्यों के हैं।)
