World Braille Day: 4 January

Every year from the year 2019 on January 4, World Braille Day is celebrated globally. The day is celebrated to raise awareness about the importance of Braille as a means of communication in achieving human rights for the visually impaired and visually impaired.

The day is celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of Louis Braille, who developed the Braille script for the visually impaired, who was born on 4 January 1809 in the city of Coupvray, northern France.
