World Cancer Day 2021: 04 February
In order to prevent cancer and create awareness about it, World Cancer Day is celebrated every year on 04 February, which started in 1933.
The theme of World Cancer Day 2021 is “I am and I will be” (“I am and I will”), this theme has been kept for three years i.e. from 2019 to 2021 which continues this year.
World Cancer Day was first celebrated globally in the year 1993 by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) in Geneva, Switzerland.
The main purpose of celebrating World Cancer Day is to make World Cancer Day celebrated to make common people aware of the dangers of cancer and to give information about its symptoms and prevention.
This day is celebrated to reduce the misconceptions spread about cancer and to thicken cancer patients. For this, government and non-government organizations organize camps, lectures and seminars all over the world.
- Currently, 76 million people die of cancer every year globally, out of which 40 lakh people die in the age group of 30-69 years.
- By the year 2025, premature deaths due to cancer are estimated to increase to 6 million per year.
- If the World Health Organization achieves the 25 per cent reduction in premature deaths due to cancer by 2025, 1.5 million lives can be saved every year.

(विश्व कैंसर दिवस मनाने का प्रमुख उद्देश्य कैंसर के खतरों के बारे में आम लोगों को जागरूक करने और इसके लक्षण और बचाव के बारे में जानकारी देने के लिए विश्व कैंसर दिवस मनाया जाता है|)
(कैंसर के संबंध में फैली गलत धारणाओं को कम करने और कैंसर मरीजों को मोटीवेट करने के लिए इस दिन को मनाया जाता है. इसके लिए सरकारी और गैर-सरकारी संघठन विश्व भर में कैंप, लेक्चर और सेमीनार का आयोजन करते हैं|)
- वर्तमान में, विश्व स्तर पर प्रति वर्ष 76 लाख लोग कैंसर की वजह से जान गवाते हैं जिनमें से 40 लाख लोग 30-69 वर्ष आयु वर्ग के मर जाते हैं।
- वर्ष 2025 तक, कैंसर के कारण समय से पहले होने वाली मौतों के बढ़कर प्रति वर्ष 60 लाख होने का अनुमान है।
- यदि विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन के 2025 तक कैंसर के कारण समय से पहले होने वाली मौतों में 25 प्रतिशत कमी के लक्ष्य को हासिल किया जाए तो हर साल 15 लाख जीवन बचाए जा सकते हैं।
