During the Covid-19 pandemic, radio made it possible, for example, to ensure continuity of learning, to fight against misinformation, and to promote barrier gestures.
World Radio Day is celebrated on 13 February every year globally. The main purpose of celebrating this is to convey the importance of radio as entertainment, information and communication medium.
On the occasion of World Radio Day, UNESCO organizes various activities in association with broadcasters, organizations and communities. World Radio Day was first celebrated in 2012.
Radio is an important medium of entertainment, information and communication, it also acts as the empowerment of people as a medium of information.
In 2011, UNESCO announced to celebrate February 13 as World Radio Day at the 36th General Assembly. Which was declared as International Day by the United Nations General Assembly. The first call sign was transmitted by United Nations Radio on 19 February 1946.
