On 04 March 2021, a meeting of the EPF Central Board of Trustees was held in Srinagar, in which it was decided to propose a declaration of an interest rate for 2020-21.
Recently, the Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has announced to keep the interest rate on provident fund deposits at 8.5 per cent for the financial year 2020-21. The EPFO has kept 8.50 per cent interest this time, like last year, without making any change in the interest rates.
According to the EPFO report, during the coronavirus epidemic, a large number of EPF members have withdrawn funds from their account, due to which the PF contribution has also decreased.
EPFO had announced 8.5 per cent interest for the financial year 2019-20, which is the lowest in the last 7 years. The interest rate on EPF was 8.5 per cent in the financial year 2012-13. In March last year, the EPFO revised the interest rate.
The EPFO had earlier said that it would pay 8.5 per cent interest in two instalments for its customers for the financial year ended 31 March. Of this, one share will be 8.15 per cent and the other will be 0.35 per cent.
