The government says that the Ministry of Cooperation will provide a separate administrative, statutory and policy framework to strengthen the cooperative movement in the country.
Recently, the Modi government has announced the formation of the Ministry of Cooperation (Ministry of Cooperation) on 06 July 2021, just before the cabinet reshuffle. Issuing a statement, the government said that this new ministry will provide a separate administrative, statutory and policy framework to strengthen the cooperative movement in the country.
Government sources said that the first reshuffle, which is going to take place two years after the NDA government led by Prime Minister Modi took over its second term, could be quite extensive, in which the name of the minister for the new ministry could be announced.
According to the government statement, the new ministry will help to further strengthen the cooperatives as a true people-based movement at the grassroots level. “The cooperative-based economic development model is highly relevant in our country where each member works with a sense of responsibility,” the statement said.
The Ministry of Cooperatives will be the second ministry to be set up after the Modi government came to power in 2019 Earlier, the government had created the Ministry of Jal Shakti soon after taking charge. After the formation of the cooperative ministry, now there will be a total of 41 ministries under the central government.

(सरकारी बयान के अनुसार, नया मंत्रालय जमीनी स्तर से जुड़े एक सच्चे जन-आधारित आंदोलन के तौर पर सहकारी समितियों को और मजबूत करने में मदद करेगा| बयान में कहा गया है, ‘हमारे देश में सहकारिता पर आधारित आर्थिक विकास मॉडल बेहद प्रासंगिक है जहां हर एक सदस्य जिम्मेदारी की भावना के साथ काम करता है|’)
(सहकारिता मंत्रालय 2019 में मोदी सरकार के दूसरी बार सत्ता में आने के बाद गठित किया जाना वाला दूसरा मंत्रालय होगा | इससे पहले सरकार ने कार्यभार संभालने के तुरंत बाद ही जल शक्ति मंत्रालय बनाया था| सहकारिता मंत्रालय बनने के बाद अब केंद्र सरकार के अधीन कुल 41 मंत्रालय होंगे|)
