The petition, filed by advocate ML Sharma, said that the Pegasus incident is a matter of deep concern and is an attack on Indian democracy, the judiciary, and the security of the country. It is morally wrong to conduct surveillance on a large scale and without any accountability. 

Senior advocate Manohar Lal Sharma has filed a petition in the Supreme Court on the case of alleged spying of opposition leaders and journalists in India through Pegasus software. In which the SIT investigation has been demanded under the supervision of the Supreme Court.

In this, an appeal has been made to ban the purchase of Pegasus in India. Opposition leaders in the country are attacking the Modi government over the Pegasus espionage case. In Parliament on Wednesday, Congress has demanded a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) inquiry. However, the government has already dismissed this espionage case.

An international media organization has revealed that more than 300 mobile numbers in India were hacked through Pegasus after the government in India allegedly tapped the phones of leaders of opposition parties.

The petition states that Pegasus is not only used for listening to conversations but through its use, complete digital information about a person’s life is obtained and this not only makes the phone user helpless but also his contacts. Everyone on the list feels that way.

The petition said, “Pegasus is not just a surveillance device. It is a cyber weapon that is being used against the Indian government machinery. Even if it is official (which is doubtful), the use of Pegasus poses a threat to national security.

(याचिका में कहा गया है, ‘‘पेगासस केवल निगरानी उपकरण नहीं है। यह एक साइबर-हथियार है जिसे भारतीय सरकारी तंत्र के खिलाफ इस्तेमाल किया जा रहा है| भले ही यह आधिकारिक हो (जिसे लेकर संशय है), लेकिन पेगासस का इस्तेमाल राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा के लिए खतरा पैदा करता है|)
