Congress leader Shashi Tharoor acquitted in Sunanda Pushkar death case, Delhi court pronounces the verdict
Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court on Wednesday acquitted Congress leader Shashi Tharoor in the death case of wife Sunanda Pushkar. Shashi Tharoor was made an accused by the Delhi Police under sections 498A (torture by the husband or his relative) and 306 (abetment to suicide) of the IPC.
After the verdict, Tharoor thanked the judge and said that it was complete torture for the last seven and a half years and now he is relieved. During the arguments, while the police sought framing of various charges, including 306 (abetment to suicide), senior advocate Vikas Pahwa, appearing for Tharoor, told the court that the investigation conducted by the SIT did not find any evidence against the politician. And he has been completely acquitted of all charges.
Businessman Sunanda Pushkar’s name came into the limelight when she married Congress leader Shashi Tharoor in 2010. Sunanda Pushkar was found dead on the night of 17 January 2014 in a five-star hotel in Delhi. After Pushkar’s death, her husband Shashi Tharoor as accused of mental harassment and abetment to murder. The name of Pakistani journalist Mehr Tarar had also surfaced in this case.
(दिल्ली की राउज एवेन्यू कोर्ट ने बुधवार को कांग्रेस नेता शशि थरूर को पत्नी सुनंदा पुष्कर की मौत मामले में बरी कर दिया है| शशि थरूर को दिल्ली पुलिस ने आईपीसी की धारा 498 A (पति या उसके रिश्तेदार द्वारा अत्याचार) और धारा 306 (आत्महत्या के लिए उकसाना) के तहत आरोपी बनाया था|)
(फैसला के बाद थरूर ने न्यायाधीश को धन्यवाद दिया और कहा कि यह पिछले साढ़े सात साल से एक पूर्ण यातना थी और अब उन्हें राहत मिली है| दलीलों के दौरान, जबकि पुलिस ने 306 (आत्महत्या के लिए उकसाने) सहित विभिन्न आरोप तय करने की मांग की तो थरूर की ओर से पेश वरिष्ठ अधिवक्ता विकास पाहवा ने अदालत को बताया कि एसआईटी द्वारा की गई जांच में राजनेता के खिलाफ कोई सबूत नहीं मिले और उन्हें सभी आरोपों से पूरी तरह से बरी कर दिया है|)
(बिजनेस मैन सुनंदा पुष्कर का नाम चर्चा में तब आया जब 2010 में उनकी शादी कांग्रेस नेता शशि थरूर से हुई| सुनंदा पुष्कर दिल्ली के एक फाइव स्टार होटल में 17 जनवरी 2014 की रात को मृत मिली थीं| पुष्कर की मौत के बाद उनके पति शशि थरूर के ऊपर मानसिक उत्पीड़न करने और हत्या के लिए उकसाने का आरोप लगा था| इस मामले में पाकिस्तानी पत्रकार मेहर तरार का नाम भी सामने आया था|)
